If I woke up this morning human trafficked, what would I be forced to do today?
Would I be a Eastern European man, trafficked and locked in a connex box each night, only to be let out in the morning to labor on someone’s farm…fooled into thinking I was actually headed to a better life?
Neither. Today I’m a 10-year-old girl from Sri Lanka, taken from my Mom and my Dad, and sent away to a big dusty factory to sew clothing. That doesn’t sound so bad. I’m must be one of the lucky ones! Or am I?
As part of Human Friendly Fashion Bloggers Day, I’ll be posting all day long to update you on my work day, and to share some facts about human trafficking that you might not be aware of. Today my name is Dilini, and I need to get to work because there’s a large pile of fabric on the floor in front of me, and my manager is looking at me with hatred in his eyes. I’ll talk to you later.
