Self-knowledge is practically impossible to attain, we’re all biased creatures, especially when it comes to the face in the mirror, but you can achieve greater objectivity and insight.
Most of us wish we could improve certain things about ourselves. Lasting change is difficult, though many of our habits are firmly fixed, and certain core personality attributes maybe inflexible. But even the oldest of habits and character traits can be altered to various degrees, as it’s never too late to change. It is possible to be the person you want to be with effort and determination.
All about Personality
Questions of personality have vexed mankind from the dawn of personhood: can people change? How do others perceive me? What is the difference between normal and pathological behavior? One’s personality is so pervasive and all important that it presents a clinical paradox of sorts: it is hard to assess our own personality, and impossible to overlook that of others.
All about Relationships
Love is one of the most profound emotions known to human beings. There are many kinds of love, but most people seek its expression in a romantic relationship with a compatible partner. For some, romantic relationships are the most meaningful element in their lives, providing a source of deep fulfillment. The ability to have a healthy, loving relationship is not innate. The ability to form a stable relationship depends on one’s self. The questions are: are you able to love others? Are you capable to give? Do you love yourself?
Failed relationships happen for many reasons, and the failure of a relationship is often a source of great psychological anguish. Most of us have to work consciously to master the skills necessary to make them flourish.
To learn about oneself one needs a great deal of humility. If you start by saying, “I know myself”, you’ve already stopped learning about yourself. The moment you accumulate knowledge about yourself through your own discovery, that becomes the platform from which you begin to examine, learn, and therefore what you learn is merely further addition to what you already know. Humility is a state of mind that never acquires, never says, “I know”.
