Today is National Human Trafficking Awareness Day in the United States. Unfortunately, millions of people continue to be trafficked around the world. In fact, earlier this week the College Football National Championship game was played in Tampa, Florida. Thousands of fans converged into the city to root on their respective teams. In addition to the many law abiding fans, there is a good probability that the dark cloud of human sex trafficking increased in the Tampa Bay area as well.
We must continue to educate ourselves and our communities about the various ways this evil can exist right beneath our eyes. As we progress in this new year please remember the voiceless. There are small things all of us can do to make a difference. Even something as simple as reporting any suspicious cases via the Human Trafficking Hotline. You can contact them via the Human Trafficking Hotline website or call the hotline (1-888-373-7888).
