U.S. Coast Guard Day

Today is U.S. Coast Guard Day! On this day, in 1790, the U.S. Coast Guard was enacted by Alexander Hamilton provided the nation with a single maritime service dedicated to saving life at sea and enforcing the nation’s maritime laws. In May of 1839, the U.S. Coast Guard Regime took over the responsibility of lighthouses when President Franklin Roosevelt announced the transfer of the U.S. Lighthouse Service to the Coast Guard in May 1939.

Thank you for all you do and the freedom you protect. Happy 227th Birthday to the U.S. Coast Guard!

Much Love,
